Frequently asked questions

What to expect

Once therapy begins, your child will attend weekly sessions in my dedicated therapy room. Sessions are child-led and may involve play, creative activities, or conversation, depending on their age and needs. While the therapy room is just for your child, I will stay in regular contact with you to share updates, offer guidance, and think together about how best to support them beyond the sessions.

FAQs

How can I support my child in therapy?
The best way you can help is by keeping things consistent. Try not to ask what they did in sessions, as this can feel like pressure. Give them space to share in their own time. If you have worries, we can set up a time to talk. I’ll also invite you to review meetings every couple of months.

How long will my child need therapy?
It really depends on your child and their situation. I check in with you regularly, usually with a very brief email when I send the weekly invoice or if your child has had a particularly emotional session. This helps you stay informed and know how things are going.

What if my child does not play much?
That is completely fine. Some children focus on art, others are very active with toys, and older children may prefer talking or creative expression. There is no right or wrong way to do therapy

School based play therapy

For Parents and Carers
I understand that school attendance requirements can make it difficult to bring your child to my playroom. I offer a service where I can liaise with your child’s school and deliver Play Therapy on-site.

Please contact me to discuss this in more detail.

For Schools
I offer Play Therapy sessions within schools, with half-day and full-day rates available. I am fully insured, hold an up-to-date DBS, and am a member of both BAPT and BACP. I am also able to work with children on an EHCP.

Please contact me to discuss your school’s needs in more detail.
